Mohawk Valley Community College will once again host free GenCyber Summer Camps for high school students in the Mohawk Valley, funded by the National Security Agency. These award-winning camps are designed to introduce local high school students to the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity through fun and engaging activities and projects. The camps will take place in the Cybersecurity Labs at MVCC’s Utica Campus.

The Beginner Camp, for first-time GenCyber students entering grades nine through 12 who are interested in exploring cybersecurity, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 15-19. This camp will provide hands-on activities and laboratory exercises to introduce students to the cybersecurity field. 

The Advanced Camp, for students in grades nine through 12 who attended a previous GenCyber Summer Camp or are already familiar with cybersecurity, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 22-26. This camp is designed to expand the cybersecurity knowledge and skills of participants, who will apply what they’ve learned to complete a capstone project that challenges them to work together to solve real-world cybersecurity problems.

This is the eighth year that MVCC’s GenCyber camps have been funded by the NSA. MVCC is the only school in the country that has been granted that honor for eight years. MVCC offers a two-year associate degree and one-year certificate in Cybersecurity. Learn more about MVCC’s cybersecurity programs.
