MVCC is committed to a culture of shared governance. Student Congress, along with the College Senate, the President's Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees, are all vital components of the College's governance structure. 

Student Congress has several purposes:

• Oversees the expenditure of the Student Activity Fee
• Acts as the liaison with the College
• Appoints student representatives to many College committees
• Provides programs and events that benefit all students

How to become active in Student Congress:

• Any student who pays the mandatory student activity fee may become a member of Student Congress or may address the members of Congress on matters that are of concern to the student body
• To be a voting member of Congress, students must complete a training session administered by Student Engagement
• Maintain a 2.0 semester grade point average (GPA)*
  *First semester students may be fully active in Student Congress although they do 
  not yet have cumulative GPA

Student Activity Fee

The Student Activity Fee is collected by the College and is used to fund Intercollegiate Athletics and Student Congress Clubs and Organizations. 

Student Congress oversees a student activity fee* budget of nearly $300,000.
