Program information

If you want to make a direct and meaningful impact in people’s lives, a career in human services might be the perfect fit for you. With an emphasis in counseling, this program will provide the interpersonal skills and knowledge you need to begin working in a variety of helping professions. Such as being a family support worker, youth worker, mental health aide, residential aide, community outreach worker, direct care worker and support aides with the elderly, etc. It can also prepare you for transfer into a bachelor’s degree program in social work, psychology, and human services. With the help of your advisor, you’ll plan a course of study around your career/transfer interests. Learn from our faculty of licensed professionals who work in the field, and get real-world experience through professionally supervised internships related to your career path. 

Upon completion of the two-year program, students should be competent in all of the following areas:

• Have the knowledge they need for employment in human service occupations
• Have the skills they need for employment in human service occupations
• Communicate in professional and academic environments
• An understanding of the process and methods of social science research
• The potential to transfer to related bachelors programs
• Demonstrate information literacy
