Adjuncts may apply to teach in more than one discipline and in more than one Academic School at MVCC. Most adjunct positions require a master’s degree in the discipline or a related discipline. The minimum qualifications required to teach specific program courses within each Academic School are listed in the table below, and as a downloadable PDF.
Please note: In many disciplines, a master’s degree in education may be considered a “related field.” Please contact the appropriate Academic School Dean to confirm.

- HIT: Bachelor's degree required, RHIA/RHIT credentials (Registered Health Information Administrator/Technician), and experience in Health Information Management field required
- Nursing: Master's degree in discipline, license in discipline, relevant work experience
- Radiation Technology Clinical: Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred AND 3 years clinical experience in professional discipline, current CPR certification, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists current registration in radiography or equivalent (i.e., unrestricted state license for the state in which the program is located), and member of the American Association of Radiologic Care
- Radiation Technology Lecture: Bachelor's degree in discipline or closely related discipline, 2 years clinical experience in professional discipline, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists current registration in radiography or equivalent (i.e., unrestricted state license for the state in which the program is located)
- Respiratory Care Clinical: Associate's degree in discipline required, Bachelor's degree preferred AND license in discipline with 2 years relevant work experience.
- Respiratory Care Lecture: Bachelor's degree in discipline AND license in discipline with 2 years relevant work experience
- Physical Education – Sports Medicine Bachelor's degree in related discipline and relevant experience
- Surgical Technology: Graduation from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the field of Surgical Technology with a Bachelor's degree preferred, credentialed in the discipline of surgical technology through a national credentialing organization that is accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA), AND a minimum of three (3) years of the last five (5) years of operating room experience in the scrub role and/or in surgical technology.
