Coming Out Day

National Coming Out Day, celebrated annually on October 11, was first observed in 1988, on the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. The day is a reminder of the power of coming out, and that coming out — whether it is as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or allied — still matters.

LGBTQ+ visibility is an important part of the fight for equality. Each year, MVCC’s LGBTQ+ Workgroup works with the Gender and Sexuality Alliance to sponsor an event featuring an exhibit of coming out stories shared by members of the MVCC community.

Coming Out Day 2024

This year's event will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wilcox Hall Lobby at our Utica Campus.
