All required materials must be received by the posted deadline. Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

Step 1: Select Scholarships

Visit the Scholarship Search webpage to review available scholarships. The name of each scholarship you wish to apply for must be listed on your application. We recommend making a list before you begin. You may apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible for. Applications must list specific scholarships names; general phrases such as “All Scholarships” will not be considered.

Step 2: Prepare Required Documents

Gather your required application materials (see checklist above). Request recommendation letters early and confirm how your recommender will submit the letter. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that recommendation letters are received by the deadline. Late letters cannot be accepted.

Step 3: Check for Additional Requirements

Some scholarships may require a specific essay, more than one recommendation letter, or other materials. Review each scholarship listing carefully. Any additional requirements will be listed in the criteria for that scholarship.

Step 4: Optional Supporting Documents

You may also submit optional materials to strengthen your application. Examples include:

  • Resume
  • Personal statement
  • List of extracurricular activities
  • Additional recommendation letters

Step 5: Complete Your FAFSA

All applicants (except international students studying on a visa) must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year. New York State residents must also complete a NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application. Both must be submitted by the scholarship deadline. Instructions are available on the MVCC Financial Aid webpage.

Step 6: Complete Your Scholarship Application

Click the link below to access the online application form. You will need to log-in using your MVCC credentials (student email address and password) to access the form.

The application will time out after 45 minutes. To avoid losing work, click “Save Progress” before the timer runs out. Saved applications can be reopened and completed later.

Step 7: Submit Your Scholarship Application & Materials

Before submitting, double check that your application is complete and that all required materials are included. Click “Submit” at the bottom of the online form. You will receive an automated email confirming receipt.

If you did not upload certain documentation (such as recommendation letters), submit them separately using the instructions in the How to Submit Application Materials section above.

Step 8: Check for Email Notifications

After you submit your application, a staff member will review it within 3-5 business days to confirm that you meet the basic eligibility criteria for the scholarships you applied for.

Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email notification. This email will include any eligibility comments left by staff, and you can also view these comments by opening your completed application form.

Approximately one month after the application deadline, final scholarship decisions will be communicated to all applicants by email. Scholarship recipients will also receive an award packet in the mail.
