Every eight years, MVCC undergoes a reaffirmation of its accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The process is an opportunity to strengthen the College through a comprehensive evaluation.
What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a process that ensures colleges and universities meet high standards of quality and effectiveness. At Mohawk Valley Community College, we are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). This means we regularly evaluate our programs, services, and operations to make sure we’re providing students with a valuable and meaningful education. Accreditation also allows us to receive federal funding and ensures that our credits and degrees are recognized by other institutions.
What is MSCHE?
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is a nonprofit organization that accredits colleges and universities in the U.S. and foreign higher education institutions. MSCHE ensures that schools meet rigorous standards of quality in areas like academic programs, student support, and financial stability. Their goal is to help institutions provide students with a high-quality education that prepares them for success. For more information on MSCHE, please visit https://www.msche.org.
What is the self-study process?
The self-study is a comprehensive, college-wide process that helps us evaluate how well we are meeting our Mission and the Standards set by MSCHE. It’s a chance to reflect on what we are doing well, identify areas for improvement, and plan for the future. MVCC’s next self-study visit is scheduled for 2027, and work is underway to prepare.
