Cannabis Violations

  • Note: New York colleges and universities remain bound by their federal requirements under the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and the Drug Free Workplace Act. This means that the Marihuana Regulation & Taxation Act (MRTA) was signed into law on March 31, 2021 legalizing adult-use cannabis (also known as marijuana, or recreational marijuana) in New York State does not extend to Mohawk Valley Community College.

  • Note: Drug, including Cannabis, violations in the Residence Halls will follow College policies.  The sanctioning guidelines are listed below.

  • Note: Incidents involving quantities greater than 3 ounces or 24 ounces of concentrated cannabis will result in increased sanctions, including, but not limited to Residence Hall dismissal.  Possible Legal Action.
