What is the SUNY Apprenticeship Program?
A grant received by Mohawk Valley Community College through the State University of New York (SUNY), in partnership with the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) and the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) to expand Registered Apprenticeships (RA) in New York.
The focus is to engage employers to participate in the NYSDOL RA program and provide funding to train and retain their workforce.
Qualifying sectors:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Healthcare
- Other sectors outside of construction (culinary trades, childcare assistant, etc.)
Our goal
To develop and help apprenticeship programs succeed in New York State. This grant allows us to monetarily aid employers by paying for the education of the apprentice. The funds can be accessed by every SUNY community college in order to help apprenticeship programs in their specific region.
Who can participate in the SUNY Apprenticeship Program?
Nearly every company in NYS outside of the construction trades can benefit from the funding. Many trades already exist and new trades can be created to fit specific needs.
Companies in advanced manufacturing, healthcare, IT/cybersecurity/artificial intelligence, and other sectors outside of the construction trades.
