MVCC placement tests

TOEFL and IELTS are not required for admission into MVCC. International students are required to take math and English placement tests prior to arriving at the College if they do not submit appropriate TOEFL, IELTS, or SAT scores. The English and math placement tests determine the student's language and math abilities respectively, as well as placement in the appropriate English or math courses. Placement will be at the discretion of the College in accordance with each student's individual needs.

Students may be placed into academic degree coursework or the English for Speakers of Other Languages based on the results of these tests.

Academic Program/College-level Coursework Requirement

Scores on standardized tests are valid for two years, so the test date must not exceed two years prior to the date of admission. Students will be fully admitted into college-level coursework if they submit one of the following scores:

• TOEFL PBT: 500
• Computer-based TOEFL: 173
• TOEFL iBT: 61
• IELTS: 5.5
