Prospective Students
For students who have academic credit from other universities and have not yet applied and been accepted to Mohawk Valley Community College, you can view some credit you may receive. Mohawk Valley Community College's transfer tables/equivalency site is intended as a guide for prospective students and is continually updated with new equivalencies as they are determined. This is hosted on a third-party site called TES. This site is intended only as a guide and there may be some programmatic variations in how some transfer credit is applied.
Students can also use Transferology, offered by CollegeSource. This allows students to put in multiple courses and see how they may best transfer to various intuitions, including Mohawk Valley Community College. Account set-up and login required.
Accepted Students
Students must provide official transcripts of all completed coursework to the Admissions Office in order for transfer credit to be applied. Students should contact all of their previously attended colleges/universities for an official transcript. Unsealed transcripts hand delivered by students are not considered official.
Courses are evaluated by the Office of Records and Registration in coordination with Academic Deans. Transfer credit will be entered into DegreeWorks, a degree audit system that allows students to view the progress they are making towards their degree. This can be accessed from the MVCC website when a student logs into MyMV, and selects DegreeWorks.
Once a student’s transfer courses are applied to the degree they have been admitted into, students will be sent an email notification to their MVCC email and can check DegreeWorks. Every attempt will be made to send the notification within 10 business days from the day the transcript is received. It may take longer if additional information is needed to evaluate the course (e.g. course syllabus and/or student learning outcomes). Please note, for those students who submit transcripts two weeks or less before the start of classes may see a delay in evaluations due to high volume. Students are highly encouraged to submit official transcripts when they are applying for Admissions.
If you have any questions on using TES or how to transfer-in credit to MVCC, please contact transferservices@mvcc.edu or call the Office of Records and Registration at 315-792-5336.
