Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC Test)
Residents of Oneida County and prospective MVCC students looking to earn their high school equivalency or general education diploma (GED) can take their Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC™) — the new national high school equivalency exam — at our Utica Campus. The TASC is free for New York State residents (residency requirements determined by the NYS Board of Education). MVCC offers computer based TASC testing only.
The TASC is comprised of subject area tests: Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. TASC takes approximately nine hours to complete over a two-day period. Test results will be distributed to testers approximately five to six weeks from the date of testing. In some cases, results may take longer due to errors requiring manual record reconciliation.
All individuals interested in the TASC (GED) must complete a TASC test application (Appendix A form). Individuals who are 18 years of age and younger are required to complete additional paperwork in accordance to New York State Board of Education laws. Proof of NYS residency is required. The MVCC Testing Center also requires valid photo ID for all individuals sitting for exams.
Seating availability is limited. Individuals must turn in Appendix A in person to MVCC TASC Coordinator to be reviewed and scheduled for a test session.
For more information, or to schedule an appointment to pick up a TASC application, please contact Nicole Benton, MVCC TASC Coordinator, at 315-731-5802.
