Mohawk Valley Community College will host a variety of camps to coincide with local school breaks in February and April. The camps, offered through the Center for Corporate and Community Education’s College for Kids & Teens, cover an array of interests and provide a fun, educational environment. February Break Camp offerings:
- Babysitter’s Training — This course provides the basic information and skills training needed to care for children of all ages in a safe and reliable manner. This camp also will be offered during the April break. For ages 11 and older.
- Be A Boss Bootcamp — This fun and interactive camp teaches participants how to turn their passions into a business, covering everything from brainstorming a plan to finding investors, marketing, and networking. For ages 9-16.
- Be A Star! Theater Camp — This camp explores different styles of acting techniques through a variety of activities and games. Campers will learn how to get in character and prepare various scenes and monologues to perform in class. For ages 8-11.
- Drone Adventure — This camp, which covers the basics of drone flight and rules, will be held in two sessions (the first for ages 9-12, and the second from ages 13-16).
- Elements of Dance — This camp covers many aspects of dance and explores the diversity of styles like jazz, ballet, line dancing, and musical theater. For ages 6-10.
- Paint the Day Away — This camp encourages artistic exploration of color mixing, textures, and more. Each day, participants will complete one follow-along painting before free studio time. For ages 7-14.
- Screenwriting 101: Writing the Script to Create Cinematic Magic — During this camp, participants will learn the fundamentals of cinematic storytelling, from formatting to worldbuilding. For ages 11 and older.
- Sustainability Club — This STEM-based camp will teach participants about different aspects of sustainability, including reducing waste and recycling. For ages 8-12.
- Upcycled Crafts — This art camp teaches participants about caring for the planet through fun art activities that repurpose recyclable materials. For ages 8-12.
