Program Information
If you’re a detail-oriented and creative worker interested in architecture, building materials, and construction methods, you might be interested in a career in computer-aided drafting.
We offer two program options — a two-year AOS degree and a one-year certificate — designed to prepare you to be a drafting technician in many facets of the technical drawing and solid modeling design fields. Learn both conventional drafting methods and computer-aided drafting systems, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and SolidWorks. The one-year certificate program constitutes the first year of the two-year degree without Physical Education and College Seminar.
Upon completion of the two-year program, you should be competent in the following areas:
- Understanding of common applications of computer-aided drafting technology.
- Ability to enter the field of computer-aided drafting.
- Ability to complete drawings using standard CAD techniques.
- Ability to successfully interact with others through drawings and other technical means.
- Effective communication.
- Ability to quantitatively analyze common CAD problems.
- Information literacy.
See semester-by-semester degree plan.
