CNC machine classProgram information

If you love computer technology, have an eye for detail, and are proficient at problem solving, consider a career as a computer numerical control (CNC) machinist or operator — a hands-on role that uses manufacturing technology to produce parts for a variety of industries. This program will prepare you for gainful employment in general machine shops and CNC manufacturing. Learn everything from blueprint reading to the programming, setup, and operation of CNC lathes and Milling machines.

Upon completion of the one-year program, students should be competent in all of the following areas:

  • Proficiency with common applications of computer-numerical control machining.
  • Ability to interpret drawings in order to select CNC machining steps directed toward the production of CNC machined objects.
  • Demonstrate competency in CNC machining issues and problem solving.
  • Successfully interact with others through drawings and other technical means.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Ability to quantitatively analyze common CNC machining problems.
  • Demonstrate information literacy.
