a credential for those looking to improve their theater skills. It helps students
build their portfolios and complete coursework for transfer. Students develop practical
skills in writing, directing, and theatrical design. This is the second of two microcredentials

This course explores the essential elements of theater, tracing its origins and development
from Ancient Greece through the Renaissance. Students will examine production techniques,
acting styles, stagecraft, and theater architecture, alongside significant plays from
these periods. The course also highlights the contributions of notable actors, directors,
designers, architects, and dramatists to theater and beyond.
Script AnalysisTH2033 cr.
This course introduces the theory and practice of script analysis. Emphasis is placed
on close readings and research of historically relevant dramatic texts, performances,
and the evolution of theatre. Topics include setting, character motivation, and a
variety of historical, socioeconomic, and political contexts with respect to playwriting.
Theater PracticumTH1963 cr.
This course requires hands-on participation in a variety of theater activities, including
set construction, stage management, running crew work, performance, and others. Placement
is made by the program advisor and technical director.
Theatrical DesignTH2043 cr.
This course introduces the theory and practice of theater production design, with
an emphasis on lighting, set and sound design.
